Today, on this day of pranks and jokes known as “April Fools’ Day” in the United States, Severtson is once again announcing the creation of a new screen line that solely and specifically targets audiophiles -- those who care entirely about audio performance and not at all about video! Severtson already leads the industry with its MicroPerf screens featuring a .55mm perf size and 7.5% open space which currently provides the highest audio & video performance of any cinema screen. Additionally, Severtson’s woven SAT and TAT screens also offer industry-leading audio pass-through with the ultimate image quality while eliminating laser-speckle!
The idea for the new MegaPerf screens came about at Severtson’s corporate offices as Dan Maxwell, Severtson VP and COO, was discussing what we could do to wow the industry once again. He said, “We’ve already amazed audiences with the ultimate visual and audio quality of our MicroPerf & SAT woven acoustic screens, now we want to blow Audiophiles away with a screen that has absolutely zero sound loss on all frequencies!” Severtson MegaPerf certainly delivers on this idea, providing 0dB sound loss with its 98% open area and head-size perforations...obviously, videophiles may not be so enthused.
Severtson’s introduction of their new MegaPerf line of Projection Screens features a perforation hole diameter of 18” -- large enough to stick your head through! This is one of its only two identifiable benefits: 1) enabling audiophiles to easily check out the “behind the screen” acoustics and 2) the amazing sound pass-thru. No other perceived benefits can be determined. Severtson’s new MegaPerf continues to be made from the highest grade PVC vinyl, and is currently available in 2D white for Cinema, ProAV and Home Theater screens. Coated options are also available, including Severtson’s popular “foldable” silver 3D, high-contrast, and high-gain coatings.
Beta testing audiophiles have named MegaPerf the “Holy Grail” of acoustic screens. While this holey screen is wholly useless for projection, it is perfect for those who ONLY care about audio quality through their acoustic movie screens and couldn’t care less about video clarity or even watching a movie on it.
